last Friday was New Year’s Eve, and i had the honour of documenting Sarah & Kurt’s beautiful wedding. i traveled to Kincardine from Windsor, and was very thankful that a big blizzard didn’t take over and blow me off the road. sometimes freak storms come off of Lake Huron and the roads close down quickly, but we had gloomy weather and above freezing temperatures, so all was good with the drive.
Sarah & Kurt met as small children, and have a beautiful history together, including secret crushes, grade 8 love, and high school romance. it makes me smile to think that they will have so many years together as a married couple, because i know first hand what it’s like to marry your grade 8 love, and it’s pretty wonderful indeed.
the weather was kind of miserable, and all the beautiful snow was close to being completely melted, but that didn’t spoil anyone’s spirits. i couldn’t believe that everyone was willing to head outside and trek through the muck and brown snow drifts to get to some photo locations, but they were quite the bunch! i think it was the very first time that i’ve ever seen bridesmaids walk through slush and snow in their high heels. actually, it’s the first time that i’ve ever taken photos in the men’s locker room at an arena (while standing in the shower stall no less), so i guess it was a day of firsts.
i want to thank Kurt & Sarah and their families (especially Grandma Jean) for making my day with you all, so absolutely wonderful. i had so much fun with everyone, and i’m so thankful that i got to ring in the New Year with such special people. thank you so much for allowing me the honour of being your photographer and giving me the chance to document the beginning of your new family. i look forward to hearing about all the joys that you will soon encounter as a married couple.
