once in a while, you meet someone that is talented.
once in a while, you meet someone that is FABULOUSLY talented.
meet Deborah Thomson.
this past May, Deborah debuted her Figgie Shoes here in Windsor Ontario.
one of my brides, and fellow wedding photographer Arica Ingratta, had asked Deborah (who’s also a wedding photographer) to paint her a custom pair of shoes for her wedding.
Deborah is no stranger to art, having painted many of the floats that were featured in the closing ceremonies for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics (remember those big beavers and mounties?)
those shoes were a catalyst for a career jump that has taken Deborah in a brand new direction, and her Figgie Shoes have created quite a stir.
I’m so excited for her!!!
so far i have documented two weddings this year that have included a pair of Figgie Shoes, and i’m sure they won’t be my last.
Deborah has become someone that i’d consider a friend, and i’m so excited that her natural abilities and creative spirit are making her quite in demand around these parts. i know that she has even received international orders as well, and i’m sure it’s only the beginning!!
i wanted to feature Deborah and her shoes on my blog, because i truly feel that her new venture needed to be shown to my blog readers !!! i’m really proud of her and i wanted to show her off.
it’s my blog, and i guess i can show off anyone that i want to, right?
you can head over to her website and check her out at www.figgieshoes.com
you might recognize a few of these shoes (and even the photos, since i took a few of them) from the weddings i photographed.
if you’re looking for a unique pair of shoes that will be a wonderful keepsake from your wedding, then Deborah can paint a custom pair that will incorporate everything that makes you unique as a couple.
if you’re looking for a gift for your bridesmaids, you can ask Deborah to paint something beautiful for your best friends.
if you want to get a beautiful baby gift for a close friend or relative, Deborah has just started painting baby shoes.
oh, and one night i had a dream that Deborah painted a pair of white Converse high-tops! i think painted Converse would be hilarious!! you never know, right?
anyways, here are the photos!!
